Tell your friends about the great sport of running and bring them along to the best club in town - CHAV. The best time to try us out is early in the season when we have more of the fun relays and before the registered runner only events start. Many of our junior members play another sport on Saturday morning and run with us in the afternoon.

This event has been held .A good turn out of Seniors and younger runners ran for around an hour in warm overcast conditions in the shelter of the pine plantation . The smell of strong perc coffee on the return was everything one could ask for, but there were also easter eggs , buns and muffins . Very nice sitting on the verandah as half of Christchurch's dogs ran around the carpark area .Thanks to Andrew R/Jones for organising and Rae and Fiona who gave up their morning walk ! Oh, and only one runner took a tumble .

A chance to run your buns off .
Pre-Season Easter Buns and Coffee!

Everyone remotely connected to the club is invited to this .
Weather should still be nice .
CHAV Cross Country pre-season St Paddies Day run to be held at Bottle lake Forest on Sunday 17th March.

Morning tea of coffee/tea/juice and Easter buns provided at the amenities building from 9.45am. Parents welcome too.

Cashmere Downs 10k Road Race
Tuesday 5th March at 6.30pm Halswell Quarry
Run Report : I popped out on March 5 after work to have a run in this event . Possibly 75 runners lined up to face a fresh Nor 'Easter in the rolling roads behind the quarry .The wind was strong for most of the first 4 km .Two short hills, but quite pinchy to get up, and chances for downhill specialists to move through the field on the other side of them. From 4 to 5 km the road was under the shelter of the hills and slightly descending .I reached the turn in 22.06 .Robyn was about 200 m ahead and Richard Seigne had gone through 4 mins earlier on his way to a fantastic 35.45 min time .
Denis and Chris F were about 1 min and 2 mins behind me respectively .With a tail wind I began to wind it up and passed a few runners ,with even Robyn looking catchable ahead . At 7 km Robyn held her hand to her side and began to slow .I passed her on the first hill - she had stitch.I knew the stitch wouldnt hold her back for long so tried to build a gap .With 1.5 km to go I raised the pace to absolute max but with 150 m to go Robyn appeared . She passed  and headed for the finish line.I pretty much gave up at that  ( my usual response to a challenge ) but a thought occurred to give it a go : we went stride for stride and crossed the line together  - 44 mins 18 secs .Denis came home in about 46.40 ,with Chris F another few minutes back .Chris said it was all he could expect on his present mileage
Veteran Mark Bailey won in 32 mins , with Anna Zhakarova the fastest woman in just over 40 mins.
A nice sandwich and energy bar were available to all finishers .There were good spot prizes . Thanks to Vic , Sandy , John Ingles and Dan Reese for officialling  ~ mv
