It's interesting to see the stats for readership of these blogs .The highest so far has been Jan 28 th's article which recorded 116 hits . When this was related to a recent club Exec meeting , Robyn Perkins owned up to most of them : )
ps - Marilyn's post detailing the Junior Club Programme received 143 hits, but that was an info sheet viewed mainly by parents .

Link Relay at 2.00 pm on Saturday 23 March at Halswell Quarry .
CHCH Avon didn't send a Senior team that I am aware of, and the word is that entries were a bit lower this year.
ps - Yes there were fewer teams this year .Results are up on Ath Canty, but only team names and times are given .
Opening day was on Saturday March 23 and lovely warm autumn weather made it a good day. As usual the Senior turn-out was rather poor but the eager childrens and Junior sections were very well represented .One exciting development was the registration of two new Veteran Women - Emma Crichton and Andrea Stocks will strengthen the Womens ranks .Andrea is the mum of the Stocks children and Emma has quite a notable background in road and long distance off- road running. Mary -Jo , who ran with us a few seasons back may also sign up for a season, so things are looking good .
The usual Easter egg scramble was held and then separate male and female mile races were run . Jacob Reese Jones clocked a reasonable 5.05 followed by Chris Dryden .Anna Reese Jones was led in the female event by a small unknown CHA lass .
Junior Mile Placegetters
Girls
1. Bella Belcher 5:56
2. Anna Reese-Jones 6:00
3. Millie Macalister 6:26
Boys
1. Jacob Reese-Jones 5:04
2. Christopher Dryden 5:22
3. Luke Mitchell 5:51

The City to Surf runs were held on Sunday 24th March (14 km and 6 km ) .Warm overcast conditions for the whole 14 km run starting at 9 am from Pioneer stadium . I saw Denis Christmas and Lorraine Wilson and also Cameron Avery from our club. Didn't see Cameron for long because he zoomed up the road with the leaders .It was a very long run - Denis thought it was more than 14 km . You certainly can't race it like the old QE2 event which was never more than 12 kms.
I'd had a bad night's sleep and don't go well in morning races, so it took a while to get moving . Somewhere around Bridle Path Rd things clicked , but there wasnt much road left before the finish in the Ferrymead paddock .1 hr 2 mins 45 secs . Denis did 1.04 .Cameron must have gone well under the hour . I was beaten by my boss from work by 45 seconds and I congratulate him . An ABBA covers band struck up and played very entertainingly. People began grooving , but I couldn't stay for more as the bus was leaving to take people back to Pioneer. A good event .

Not many of our runners do marathons these days so it was interesting to hear Lutz Beckert tell of competing in the Berlin marathon in September last year. Lutz said it's a fast course which starts and finishes at the Brandenburg gate .There are oom pah bands almost every kilometer to help you along. Lutz said he once ran this in 2 hrs 52 mins , but at 51 he was happy with an hour slower (3.52 )
