Some questions have arisen from the wider running community as to how CHCH Avon is so prominent in this competition . Reference was made to the charter or whatever document governs C.O.T.Y and it was found that points have been allocated entirely in keeping with the guidelines . The guidelines seem to favour clubs with broad memberships and enthusiastic participation in the qualifying races . Our club is strong in the childrens , teens and vets sections , but slightly less so in the seniors. We regularly field enough runners in various grades to get good teams of four over the line .
This award was instituted by Phil Costley to promote running across all age groups, and at present our club happens to be meeting that criterion the most well .
But things can change -Uni and Port Hills are not far behind .latest COTY standings
